Re: Recent CloudFlare Hassles

Yeah, currently working for me as well (CloudFlare displayed captcha, I solved it, IceFilms came up). Hopefully, it will stay this way. Though I'd still like to know why the problems from earlier today were happening (intellectual curiosity).

Re: Site Permissions Issue

Using Tor means your IP addy constantly changes (sometimes as frequently as every few minutes). While there are a finite number of IPs (it depends on the number of volunteers willing to run Tor relay nodes), it's a large number that many different people use sequentially (that's one way it provides ...

Re: Site Permissions Issue

Thanks for trying to help Way - I just tried allowing cookies (both by allowing all, as well as explicitly allowing icefilms.info), but neither changed CloudFlare's recent behavior. Note that I've been able to access icefilms using Tor for quite a long time. As far as I can remember, CloudFlare star...

Re: Site Permissions Issue

I don't want to get into a(nother) discussion about the reasons to use or not to use Tor. However, if CloudFlare is putting up a test to prove that the connection using Tor (or other methods of maintaining privacy) is not a bot, then at least let the test be valid, or simply say 'You're not welcome ...

Re: Site Permissions Issue

I don't know if this is related, but CloudFlare just started acting up again for me a few hours ago when using Tor: It gives me easy to solve captchas, but doesn't accept my answers and redisplays a new challenge again and again. This is happening with both the regular URL as well as the IPv6 site. ...

Re: No likey !!!FORUM ISSUES!!!

which means some information disappears on a narrow screen (like a phone or tablet). (Or when you increase the magnification of your screen to compensate for a 19" monitor and crappy vision!) Got it - I reduced my screen magnification and the number of views are now visible (though a bit blurr...

Re: No likey !!!FORUM ISSUES!!!

On second thought, I think I totally just fixed the forum index (rock). Lemme know what you think. Latest timestamp and name of member posting for each subforum is now visible from the main forum index - thanks! However, when you go to a subforum, the number of views a particular post has received ...

Re: No likey !!!FORUM ISSUES!!!

The 'look' of the new design is nice (though I miss my previous style choice, but I can't remember its name), however... You can no longer see the user & timestamp of the most recent post for each section from the main forum index screen. You have to open each subforum individually to see this i...

Re: Recent CloudFlare Hassles

@Repdaddy: Access is working right now (I just noticed a short while ago). I'll post if that changes again. If admins didn't change any settings, then I totally understand. It's just the not knowing when (or why) that can be a pain. FYI, how Tor works is that the IP address is constantly changing, ...

Re: Recent CloudFlare Hassles

FWIW, right before ice had to switch hosts, the captcha challenge became even easier (only one captcha presented per challenge, and more importantly, it was less distorted), I mentioned this at the end of my Dec 14th post in this thread. I'm guessing that these easier captchas would still have preve...

Re: Recent CloudFlare Hassles

Starting today, CloudFlare is blocking all attempts to access icefilms through Tor. Every attempt to type in a captcha simply results in a new captcha set being displayed. I tried over 12 times in a row, and could never access the site. If someone increased the CloudFlare security level, they've now...

Re: Recent CloudFlare Hassles

Well, it looks like these screens aren't going away, so here are my tips for surviving the captcha (actually, the recaptcha ): 1) Ignore the easy word, it does not need to be entered at all (and ever since Google took over recaptcha, it no longer helps anyone). 2) Case does not matter, so just enter...

Russtronicâ„¢ wrote:There are other privacy options that are fast and secure and anonymous. But are not free, but relatively inexpensive. Is what I was talking about.
Please elaborate (though I'm skeptical about the level of privacy available when there is an online payment).

Re: Recent CloudFlare Hassles

The reason I said that is to see if there was another way. Excluding Tor from the equation. If at all possible. Tor is slow at best for Ice. It may be slow, but at least it's private (or at least more private than other options). If all I had to do was enter captchas, maybe the current situation wo...
