Running MKV videos in the web browser for Mac

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and this is my first post. I want to apologize if this question has already been asked.

I love streaming on a Mac through my browser (I use firefox) and I would love to view the 720p videos in mkv, however, macs cannot play the audio file AC3 through the web browser for mkv files. Therefore, I get the video, but no audio.

Can anyone please recommend a work around? I do not want to download the file, I would like to stream. Please assist.

Thank you!

PS: I love icefilms :)

Hey, i do not know if the codec pack klite is compatible with mac, but i know it works fine in windows, maybe try klite codec pack ? , or there is another codec pack cccp,
try that?
Hmm a little googling http://www.techisky.com/tips/k-lite-cod ... r-mac.html
https://answers.yahoo.com/question/inde ... 848AA34GGL
http://mac101hq.com/alternative-k-lite-codec-pack-mac/
Else there is VLC player.
Seems most vote for Perian.
Also you can just start download the video, then goto the temp location of the file, and open it with VLC(it can play unfinished downloads), its just like streaming.
When i direct you to a videohost that you can't download from, use a program like jdownloader http://jdownloader.org/download/index?s=lng_en
Else try this addon for firefox, it can download many things also. http://www.downthemall.net/
Also Internet Download Manager does a good job (IDM) http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/

yep kukomamasan is correct with Perian, or that was the fix the last time I did research on the issue. At that time years ago the codec packs did not fix the issue. It may now??
Here's perian, It was going to be dropped.
http://perian.org/
But with a fast search found this on a MAC forum.
Actually, it's still being developed. Version 1.3.2 is available via GitHub and it works with 10.9
https://github.com/MaddTheSane/perian/releases

Hope it helps ;)
