Dark picture

I've noticed lately that my monitor plays back night scenes very dark, almost not able to see them.
I watched Hannibal and it was extremely dark. Is this the way the show was supposed to be or what?
I have lightened up my monitor but that still doesn't help.
I use vlc player on windows xp with a dell monitor.
Is there anyway of lightening the picture playback other than the monitor?
Thank you in advance for any help!

Yes there is a way probably, now i dont know what graphic card you use, but if nvidia or AMD you can go into the graphic property, and brighten things up in video playback. I use AMD, and i know if you go into the video properties, you can force the videos to be brighter, and add effect such as sharpen ect.
http://nvidia.helpmax.net/en/video/vide ... -settings/

When i direct you to a videohost that you can't download from, use a program like jdownloader http://jdownloader.org/download/index?s=lng_en
Else try this addon for firefox, it can download many things also. http://www.downthemall.net/
Also Internet Download Manager does a good job (IDM) http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/

In VLC goto>tools>Effects & Filters or CTRL E

Center Tab Video Effects Image adjust then play with the settings to get what you want.

Thank you kukomamasan & way for your response. I just checked back to my question and found your answers. Apparently my auto notification is not working.
I will give these a try.
Thanks again!

Hey longjohn13 I've just switched to Zoom Player http://inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_download.shtml and I've got to say I'm very impressed with it. The playback is IMO way better than any player I've used so far. I was having tearing issues with VLC and, could not change any settings in VLC or my video card CP's to correct it. So I got mad and went on a video player hunt. Thank the internet god for me finding it. Now my HD looks like HD wow is all I can say even SD looks like HD in VLC. Plus playing Audio is 1000% better than VLC. So if you don't get your issue sorted out give it a try. Oh yea it won't work with IQS that I know of cause I don't use IQS or stream. I download everything, but I'm sure there is a way I just don't care ATM to find out how.

Have a great one.

You should be able to stream with it by opening or drag-n-drop the .part file, just like we used to with vlc before the script was written to detect it ;)
