Wrong IP

I am using Nexus 4 Chome browser on Lollipop, and recently (with no changes that I can think of), all download and streaming links produce a 'wrong IP' error. This includes 180, billion, movreel, and also other hosts like vodlocker, allmyvideos, vidbull, etc. from other sites.

This happen on wifi (different networks) as well as on data. Any clue why this is happening?

I'm not having any problems using chrome browser and Lollipop on Nexus 7 (2013).

I would think the answer lies in learning more about this "wrong IP" error

First, very important, I did this:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wrong+ip+error+when+downloading

Then, on wjunction, I found this:
"Wrong IP error occurs only when trying to download a file from a different IP than the one that generated the download link"

That could be a sign of crypo malware attacking your PC. It plays havoc with your Internet settings so that your IP could perform a sort of twisting. Prevntion is the best cure , so you can protect your device as laid down here (emo)

I think that this is the latest ransomware called Locky. I think that it is capable of affecting IPs. Have you downloaded some "invoice" saying that you should enable Macros? It seems that this is the main thing that Locky needs to start its work. Here is more about it: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-locky-virus.html

I agree, this is similar to ransomware. Unfortunately, the process of file encryption is constantly improving (envy)
