MKV File Length not Displayed

I like MKV files, but have noticed the length of a TV show or movie doesn't appear with the file details
in my windows 7 laptop. AVI files display length no problem. Any solutions for this MKV issue?? Thanks.

It shows up with my Win 7 desktop don't see why It don't with your laptop...

What player do you have associated with the files?

Right click the file then properties change default program to VLC or Divx which ever you want to use ..... WMP doesn't support .mkv so that may be the problem????

To clarify -
MKV Video length does NOT display in my Win 7 folder details.
(The MKV files do work fine and display their length in VLC player when being played)

Gspat is right or you can use Icaros (thumbnail software) which is using LAV filters. Now it is part of
K-Lite codec pack.It adds file properties for MKV and FLV files.I am using older version of Icaros so MKV properties are handled by Divx thumbnail provider.

SOLVED - MKV File Length not Displayed

Thanks Folks,
Re-installing the latest version of Divx player and adding their codec pack
solved the issue. Now all the details I was seeking for MKV files [et al.]
are displaying in my Windows 7 folder details.
(Hard to believe this issue wasn't taken care of with a Windows update from MS,
but I'm a happy camper.)
