Well i will say VLC player, is for playing videos, as to it don't download it all, i have no idea, when i use VLC to play i know it buffers the amount i set it up to in my settings, never used VLC to download, then i use the big download button option below VLC player.
When i direct you to a videohost that you can't download from, use a program like jdownloader http://jdownloader.org/download/index?s=lng_en
Else try this addon for firefox, it can download many things also. http://www.downthemall.net/
Also Internet Download Manager does a good job (IDM) http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/

Streaming with VLC may have problems for some users. VLC has a small cache size so if you don't get good speeds from both your isp and the host then you will get the buffer problem.
The reason is because VLC doesn't cache the whole file to your hard drive like Divx does it only caches a small part 5 seconds if you have setup VLC per the tutorial.

If your having the buffer issue then download the file by either the Download button on the IQS player or from the direct link on the host page. Then you can watch it with vlc after enough of the file is downloaded, or finished. Then just delete the file after.

Or you can use Divx player is does cache the whole file to disk so you can press the pause button and give it time to load before watching. The progress bar on the player with change color and move as it is loading.
