3D on My 2D TV Help

Don't understand what to do??

This is where you take the ?, and find the Talk, so Read; help only if you know the problem: no need to just chime in because you can kinda thing Aight

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

What kind of glasses do I need?

To view 3D on a 2D monitor, you need the red/cyan anaglyph glasses (or other variants of multi-color)

The polarized glasses you get from a movie theater WILL NOT WORK

I got a bunch of the sunglasses looking glasses from the movie theater, how do I use them?

You go to a movie theater and watch a 3D movie there.

They might work for a passive 3DTV set as well.

My computer monitor says 3d capable, how do I get this to display 3D?

You'll need Nvidia's or comparable equipment to go along with it.

The monitor is CAPABLE, but needs extra equipment.

See your user manual that came with the monitor to find out what you need.

I tried using sview, but I still get the two side by side pictures?

Did you follow the tutorial? viewtopic.php?f=35&t=72246

Are you using the right program?

Sview installs as two programs, one for video and one for images.

Make sure you are using the right one - Sview Video Player.

I get errors trying to run the program... What do I do?

Contact the authors of the programs for support about why their players won't run on your system.

Is there a way to watch with polarized glasses on a 2D screen, rather than anaglyph?

I stream movies from my laptop to the PS3 with PS3 media server. Can the PS3 and my 2D HDTV take advantage of the H-SBS format?

I downloaded the sview player. When I played a 3D movie, I still get two screens. I suppose I need the 3D glasses. Where do I get them? Thanks again for your help.

Due to how 3DTVs work, no, this will not work.

3DTVs work by rapidly flashing between each eye's image, the glasses make it so that the images are directed to the proper eye to give the 3D effect.

Each type of glasses work differently. Polarized (passive) glasses won't work with an active or anaglyph display, etc.

Anaglyph is meant for 2D displays, the others aren't.

Technically, yes... But only as 2D or anaglyph.

Feasibly, I'm not sure if the image can be recoded on the fly to do this.

This would be a great question to ask the people that make the PS3 media server!

Did you follow the tutorial completely?

If you still get two screens, you missed a step.

remember, for 2D Displays, you need the red/cyan glasses to get the 3D effect.

You don't need glasses if you view only the left or right views.

gspat, sorry, but that went right over my stone noggin. Do I need 3D glasses for the sview player? If so, where is the best(easiest, cheapest)place to get them. What do you mean"watch only one of the screens". Can you do that with the sview player? How? You got a real dummy here. Thanks again for your assistance.

gspat, after I closed this, I found your tutorial on the main site page. I'll see if my questions get answered after I finish reading the tutorial. Thanks again.
It appears as though I will need glasses for the sview player, right? Where do I get them. Sorry for being slow.

Is your monitor 3D capable?

I think I read somewhere that 3D capable monitors need to be connected via DVI or better.

If it is, you can try it?

If you are doing just anaglyph, it should work on whatever monitor you are outputting to, regardless of the connection.

Yea just doing anaglyph.

I just ordered http://www.amazon.com/Glasses-Pro-Ana-m ... pd_sim_e_1

for that.
I am guessing that they would work with this.

Is there a way to view the 3d videos on my computer using the glasses you get from the movie theater? Or, what is the 3D vision driver that I get when I install my Nvidia driver? I emailed Nvidia about that last week and haven't heard back. Do I need to purchase special glasses for that?
