NEW USER... followed all steps to watch vid, and no luck

Hello!

I was an avid Icefilms user until Megavideo went down. So I took a break and I'm back now as a new user. I followed all the download steps (I use Firefox on a PC; downloaded Greasemonkey, downloaded IQS 5.4, and downloaded both VLC and DivX webplayers), and I go to click on a TV show link, then click on a billionuplads or 2shared, or vidhog link, well any and all links that are shown, and it opens up a new tab that says "File not found" or "404/403 Error/Access Denied" or some other error message. I have tried this with many TV shows/movies, and I can't watch anything; all I get is an error message. I have searched the forums for help to no avail. I would really like some help figuring this out. Is it something on my end? Is Icefilms down? Do I need to download something else? Do I need to change my settings or configurations in any of my downloaded programs? PLEASE HELP!! Thanks so much!

Try clearing your cache

CTRL+Shift+Delete

Tick the cache box and un-tick the rest

Then you should flush your dns cache

How to Flush DNS in Windows Using the Command Prompt

Step 1 – Close all open web browsers and applications on your computer.

Step 2 – Open the Windows command prompt by selecting the “Start” menu and entering “cmd” in the search text field box followed by clicking the “enter” key.

Step 3 – At the command prompt, enter “ipconfig /flushdns” followed by pressing the “enter” key. After a moment, Windows will display a message similar to: “Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver

This would be the first steps I would try.

Okay I did both of those things...and the links still will not work. For example, the main thing I am trying to watch now is the latest episode of The Big Bang Theory.

Does it do this on all files and all links? or do you keep trying from the same link?

I would next change my DNS you can choose from many free ones but the first 2 that come to mind, and I have used them both is Google and Opendns.

You can search for any you wish to try but here is OpenDns

https://store.opendns.com/setup/computer/

Pick your OS and follow the instructions.

Google also has free DNS here

Ok I changed to OpenDNS and cleared both my web cache and DNS resolver caches like they instructed, and tried again, with no success :(

Is this happening for all files you are attempting to access? File not found, and errors 403 and 404 mean exactly that. The file does not exist. Can you provide a link to a file(s) that gives you these errors, please? If they work for us and not you, we can delve in to this a bit more.

Yes this is happening on all the links I attempt to access...

Here are some links I am choosing at random to see if they work, and they all give me an error message:

(the last 2 links were on the "being watched now" list)

Curious. Try this with IQS enabled, Then not:

Code: Select all

Ok...With IQS enabled I get the ICE DIVX video screen in the upper left with the option to play the video either with VLC player or Flash. I click on the VLC play button and it opens a window for me to open and play the temporary file with VLC on my computer. No actual video plays in VLC however. Clicking on the Flash player play button, the video "loads" for a long while in the same window, but then a "file not found" error message finally appears.

With IQS disabled and clicking play in the JW player, this video also "loads" for a long while in the same window, and then gives me a "file not found" error message.

Ok my question now is does the page load from ICEFILMS OK then you get the error when trying to play the video???

In another words is the error from Icefilms or the host ???

Say you click this link does it open a new tab to the host?
http://www.icefilms.info/ip.php?v=159496&

Then from the host page when you try to watch then you get the error ???

BEFORE, when I used to click the link in Icefilms, it would open up a new tab on the host website and have an error message/file not found. So no, the video player did not even load.

NOW, trying that Bill Maher link, no new tab opens. I remain on Icefilms, and the links disappear, replaced by a blank space. No video player appears, no error message appears, nothing at all.

SUCCESS! I think it was clearing the cookies (and the web cache), and restarting the browser that helped (I also updated Java and made sure the appropriate plugins were enabled, steps I had tried before)!! THANKS SO MUCH for you help and patience!
