File hosts are terrible... Please give us one or two decent hosts, at least...

Has anyone else noticed that ClicknUpload seems to be artificially-throttling to just 50kb/s within the last week or two? It was the last "usable" file host that the admins were offering, but now every download is bottlenecked on their end. You can tell it's a limit on the server-side because initiating a second download segment on the same file results in the exact same speed limit (i.e., 50kb/s with one segment, or 100kb/s with two, which is the max)... Not to mention I've obviously made sure it's not a problem on my end, which I'm able to do because I'm not a random casual that uses a computer exclusively for Facebook. ;)

As far as the others; Hugefiles caps your total daily download even if you sign up for a free account, and Upload.af/Tusfiles have always been throttled to speeds that pretty much make using these file hosts for videos all but useless. Up until recently, ClicknUpload was the last decent host you guys were using, which could reach speeds of 1 to 2 MB/s and didn't have a noticeable cap on daily amount quotas.

Look guys, we know that running this website isn't free and ads alone may not be enough, which is why you've been using "select" file hosts throughout the past few years. I won't get into this issue in detail here in public; I'll just say we know why you're using these specific file hosts, and that's cool...

But can't you offer a couple more that are at least usable for downloading anything more than just a 200MB mp4 file within 45 minutes? Because right now, that's what the practical limit on these hosts are. Can't you give us a couple more options, even if the affiliate/click-rate isn't as good as these others? Or just one good option, even if it doesn't have a program? I mean, hell, you could just list that server as the last in the sources list, so that 90 percent of the "casuals" usually click on the other hosts first, just like usual?

Please consider it, guys. These last couple weeks I've pretty much just been using Icefilms as a TV guide to know what's been released, and what the file is named (scene release) so that I can Google it or try to find it on another DDL site that offers a decent file host...

We have a thread for suggesting hosts and appreciate any input. If anybody suggest viable options they will be seriously considered. Keep in mind the same thing will likely eventually happen with any new host. We simply generate that much traffic to them. Hold tight, hopefully they upgrade/add servers.

ClickNUpload links very very very slow

I almost exclusively use the ClickNUpload links to get my stuff, but the past month, maybe 3 weeks, the ClickNUpload links are estimating 2-4 hour dloads for me. This morning I went to grab last night's SNL from ClickNUpload and the estimated time was 3 hours plus. However, when I went to HUGEFILES, the time was 3-4 minutes.

I also had problems over the few months (icefilms was blocked) because I had been using Avast! but since uninstalling that and switching to MalwareBytes, those issues have been resolved.

Is there something new going on with using ClickNUpload?

Thanks for reading and thanks for all the great content.

Yes it is called server load.
They are a newer service so they prolly don't have enough server's to keep up plus it's the holiday's so lot's more user's. (The kid's are out of school)
Try later, another host, download manager, other than that not much else can be done.

@wax.....If you have their "free" account Hugefiles caps your daily DL at 10 GB!! How can anyone complain about that.....and it is free!
ClicknUpload has never throttled me. It is not as fast as Hugefiles or 180upload but still very good. I have no complaints. Even the ones that are slower, like tusfiles, are an option for those persons with a bit of patience.
I am thankful for this site and every download host they have.....
(I respect your right to an opinion just the same)

I thought Hufefiles was a 2GB/day cap even for registered users. Maybe they changed it now. Still, and ironically, Hugefiles isn't always used by the admins for some reason. I'm seeing releases with just ClickNUpload, Tusfiles and the other one. ClickNUpload has gotten a little better over the last week, where it's finally allowing transfers of up to about 750kb/s, although it's still not that dependable. I have no idea what the actual protocols are that they're using, but I literally just finished 2 downloads from them; one at 750kb/s and the other capped at about 60-70kb/s.

I'm thankful for this site too, but I've been using it since it was created and I'm pretty familiar with how this "game" works. On one hand, we can't complain too much because Icefilms doens't charge for memberships. On the other hand, they do heavily utilize the spammiest-of-the-spammiest ad servers, which pays them better but is obviously worse for us. And they're also using specific file-hosts because they pay out through affiliate programs. In fact, I have a feeling that... Actually no, nevermind. I'm not gonna bring up this theory I have because I can't say if it's true for sure.

Anyway, I doubt that the guys at the top of Icefilms are rolling in the money, but I'd definitely bet they're making quite a bit more than it costs to run the site. And there's nothing wrong with that; this is how the warez scene works these days. But it's a give-and-take relationship... If something is wrong like, well, all of the file hosts they're using pretty much suck, then there's nothing wrong with us complaining about it (or at least bringing it to their attention). If they want to keep bringing in traffic for the ads and video affiliates, they've gotta give us an incentive to use their website instead of elsewhere. KnowwhatImean?

Well we are definitely not making more (I will say it again we have been in the Red for the last 3 yrs) than it costs to run this site. As far as the hosts go we are always looking for new hosts as we have a certain standard that the host must meet. Adblock is what is causing hosts to quit. How do you think that they stay in biz?? We are completely Non-profit. How do you think we have stayed open while others have gone? We only supply links, we do not host anything.

Russ has reached out to me for help on the 403.
I haven't had any problems so I'm not sure what's going on I can't recreate it on my end.
I will be working with Russ on this over the next few day's to locate the problem if we can find it.
As far as slow speeds it is the holidays so lot's of kids out of school. The user base on Ice has went up tremendously so server load may be the reason. I've even had slow speed issue's with premium account's. With or without premium I have always just stopped the download in my browser then restart it. This will normally fix the slow connection for me. Or use a download manager which will all ways give better speeds than a browser.

I have also started a post just for new host's back when the site was shuffling last time a few months ago. Back in August viewtopic.php?f=20&t=108174 But it got no response so the site went with Staff picks instead of user picks. IE the user's didn't help. So I'm sorry if I don't have any sympathy for the whining about the host's that are used on the site.
Now I have found another host that I like and think will work well for the site, but again I can't get any Staff or user's to test it for feed back.
Remember this is a user based site. User's do the work for free YES FREE we help other's in the forums, we search for and find links to add, we maintain the front page banners, ECT ECT.
I guess if you really wanted things to change you could become more involved in the site and help.
I only say these things because I have seen to many post's about this same slow speed, not happy with the host's BS. I say BS because we have reached out to the user's for help finding new host's before.
It was done here viewtopic.php?f=20&t=108174
And here viewtopic.php?f=20&t=95857&p=232447&hilit=new+host+test#p232447
And here is one that a user spent way to much time on. viewtopic.php?f=152&t=64656&hilit=hosts

But we will look into the problems that your having and try to find the issue your having several 100,000 user's at any given time are on the site so this leads me to think it is isolated.
Might be Malware,Spyware,Virus it's on the user's end.

Slow Donloads

I have not been able to download or watch from any of the Hosts because top download speed is about 43kb per second. This has been going on for over a month now. My internet download speed is 50mb per second from my IP. I have done everything from clearing my cache to upping my IP speed, nothing has helped at all. I'm tech savy so nothing wrong on my end.
I know you guys work so hard keeping this site going, for years now you have been busting your butts, and everyone including me really appreciates all the hard work, but if speeds are so slow at all times, even early 2-5 am then all your hard work is for nothing if no one can watch anything.
I am a loyal IF Fan, is there anything that we users can do to help this situation?

All right new host added maybe this one will help lighten the load off the other hosts, and/or be better for some users.

Yall test it out but again we are just doing our best to pick from the endless choices of hosts that will work with the IceFilms database.

I usually use chrome for everything, but after getting the 403 error after each download I found a fix.....you can either (1) clear website cache after each download or (2) use IE |-) .... If I use IE I don't get any 403 errors oddly enough.

Chosen Solution

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

check the permissions on the about:permissions page and in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/fix-logi ... -passwords

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Edit > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Or this solution https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/982186

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.

Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

If the above doesn't work then check your Connections setting to see if a extension has changed this to Use a Proxy.
Which the above test (FireFox Safe Mode) would have shown if a extension is the problem or FireFox settings, but still nice to check.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ad ... in-firefox
On this page under Advanced on the left then scroll down and look for Network tab section.
Connection (Settings) first thing listed.
Use: No proxy: Choose this if you don't want to use a proxy.
If you use a proxy after changing this setting and testing to see if it works then go back and use:
No Proxy For: List of hostnames or IP addresses that will not be proxied. List the sites that give you this Error.

How to clear cache for those that don't know how https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ho ... efox-cache

Also on that page is how to set FireFox to auto delete cache (Second Section) this is what I use. I don't care about cache. It is normally the cause of most problems. Maybe the reason I almost never have problems.
Under Clear history when Firefox closes Settings.
I auto clear(check) Browsing & Download , Active Logins, Form & Search History, Cache, Offline Website Data
(Download Cache can cause the Slow Downloads problem) If I think I may want to go back to something in history later I just bookmark the page for later. I have a bookmarks folder just for this stuff. I leave cookies because I hate having to sign into every site. Everything else I don't care about or I will use a different browser for. I.E. I run 2 firefox's.
Or you can install a addon for clearing Cache https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... rm=windows
Tho I don't use that many addons they can conflict and cause problems on their own.

Another thing I use and swear by is Ccleaner https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download just the free version.
I clean with this from time to time and scan for Reg error's - normally after I update something I.E. FireFox,Windows,Ect, or when I have some kind of problem.

This is just some of the things I thought might be of help, and what I use and how to do it.
I hope this will let you Enjoy things again,
Way
