trouble with DivX Web Player-can't play movies

My son introduced me to this sight and it blows my mind....LOVE,love.
Used to work fine with old DivX Player, accidentally updated to new one, uninstalled all, then downloaded 'old' player. Now movies don't play.
Arrrrgggghhhh!
What went wrong? Any help is a Godsend, 'cause I'm having withdrawal symptoms. Thanks in advance.

what i meant was run CCleaner to clear all your cache then run the registry cleaner then restart your computer and try streaming again...

Hi Francoise,

Follow the instructions in this tutorial. Make sure you remove any codec packs you may have, as well as desktop versions of divx, (you can reinstall them later if you want) and pay particular attention to the registry cleaning part.

[If your computer keeps asking you for administrative privileges, you need to log into the admin account on your machine to perform these tasks]

Finally found the CC Cleaner (already on my computer as a matter of fact) that Stan talked about and went through the Tutorial that Nevermore669 left a link for, and many hours later, uninstalling and re-installing , I must have done it alright 'cause now it's working. Not an easy task for a newbee. Most of us don't know 99% of what's on our computers...

Thank you both for your input and patience most of all.
