How to Train Your Dragon...

... is bloody good!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this movie. I find it hard to come by good modern animations outside of the Toy Story trilogy and the first Shrek, but I'm gonna have to put this up there as "Best of the Rest".

Solid storyline for something aimed at kids primarily, and just enough humour, action and cuteness to fill in the gaps.

If you haven't seen it and are looking for 90mins to kill with something light-hearted, this is for you.

I'm giving this a fair 8/10.

I agree. My daughters (10 and 12-going-on-25) also both gave it a thumbs up.

ok so im gonna agree too. we thought it would be a bit poo but were pleasantly surprised that we managed to get through the whole film. some obvious jokes aside it was a nice fun movie. nowhere near as good as some other animated films such as cloudy with a chance of meatballs.

yes i mention cloudy as a way of quantifying my taste. people hated it but i loved it.

take my recommendation with a pinch of salt if you were in the hater crowd

Great film. Saw it in the cinema (after reading positive reviews) and thought it was much better than the Ice Age saga.

I've not yet seen Cloudy, so I think I'll give it a shot next time I've got time for a movie. Thanks for reminding me about it! :D

Ah! Yes, cloudy. I guarantee you'll enjoy that too. It's like a psychedelic film from the 60's. Much more for adults than kids I think.

you should also try the disney/pixar animation film "UP". I thought it was awsome as well with a emotional intro.

Oh I forgot about UP. Another great animation. And I totally agree with how emotional it was... poor guy. AND... his name was Carl.

sarcasm? on a forum? no way?

check out the Studio Ghibli flicks also. Miyazaki has a way with the magic and fantastical nature of Japanese culture.
